  • HACK

    To make unwieldy strikes at the golf ball.
  • HACKER

    A golfer who makes continuously poor strikes at the golf ball.

  • HANGING LIE

  • HAZARD

    A hazard is any sand trap, bunker or water on the golf course that may cause difficulty to the golfer when playing the next shot.
  • HEAD

    The part of the golf club that strikes the golf ball.
  • HEEL

    The part of the golf club head near to the shaft.
  • HIT

    To play a golf shot or stroke.
  • HOLE

    A 4 1/4" round receptacle in the putting green - at least 4" deep.
  • HOLE HIGH

    A ball landing on the putting green that is level with the hole but off to one side.
  • HOLE IN ONE

    A hole made having struck the golf ball just once.
  • HOLE OUT

    To finish the play for a hole by hitting the golf ball into the cup.
  • HONOR

    The privilege of hitting the golf ball first, from the tee. The privilege goes to the winner of the previous hole.
  • HOOK

    To hit the golf ball in a way that causes the golf ball to curve drastically from right to left.
  • HOSEL

    The hollow part of an iron golf club head into which the shaft is fitted.
