• OBSTRUCTION

  Any object that has been left on the golf course with the excepting golf course boundary markers and roads and paths.

• OFFSET

  A golf club with the head set behind the shaft.

• ONE IRON

  An iron golf club with a loft of 17 degrees, lie of 56 degrees and length of 39 inches.

• ONE WOOD

  A golf club, also known as a driver.

• ONE-PUTT

  To hole the golf ball using only one putt on the putting green.

• OPEN STANCE

  The left foot is set behind the imaginary line of the direction of the golf ball. This allows the golfer to face more in the direction the golf ball is going to travel.

• OUT

  The first nine holes of an 18 hole golf course.

• OUT OF BOUNDS

  The area outside of the golf course in which play is banned. A golfer is penalised a stroke and distance. That is the golfer must replay the golf shot with a penalty of one stroke.

• OVER CLUB

  To use a golf club that gives too much distance.

• OVERLAPPING GRIP

  As used by a right-handed golfer having the little finger of the right hand overlapping the space between the forefinger and second finger of the left hand.
